asdgearfwd WELL @maidenofthecloud I know these guys were only invented to sell toys and That's It, but honestly before realizing the discrepancies between the lego sets and the show itself I had been looking forward to seeing Rumble and Savage in Monkie Kid! I was excited for Macaque to fully embrace the og classic Six-Eared Macaque role and be a terrifying villain, and getting some henchmonkeys/minions/horrible little skull sons seemed to potentially be part of that. Rumble and Savage could have been a neat callback to JTTW itself too, as there LEMH used the monkeys of Mt. Huaguoshan as his personal tools to achieve his aims, and what better way to signal this descent into villainy in legoland than to show Macaque being willing to bring other yao into existence specifically to be the means to his ends? I also imagined these skull simians to potentially be a signal that not only were we going to get to see more monkey yaoguai (maybe even some members of the Mt. Huaguoshan troop), but that LEMH would later down the line get to grow outside of his violent obsession with Sun Wukong. Having some more monkey yaoguai who were tied to him but then maybe started to grow some agency and resentments of their own seemed to signal that LEMH would have to deal with the consequences of his own misdeeds instead of always getting to blame everything on Sun Wukong, and the potential character growth for both him and the skull simians seemed like a cool thing to explore. Plus @ar-blackshaw came up with this really cool theory that Rumble and Savage were potentially tied to the Red Python Demon, which got me excited that we would get to see that giant snake at some point. Oh well! As is I like the idea that you came up with the other day, so that's what happens in the version of Monkie Kid that eixsts in my mind haha.

Had the biggest desire to just draw the ShadowPeach babies. I HAD TO Also, Haoyu is definitely the biggest XD While the smallest is tied between Savage and Bao.

And yes! Xue has four ears that she totally hides with her messy curly hair when she gets older~

... Notice only three of the babies have belly buttons. I'll leave it up to you to guess who was the "Mama" for each~

Secret third baby is Thunder, and he is literally so shy it's a miracle to see him at all. Shadow powers make super shy babies hard to find

This is referencing that one post where someone pointed out that in the concept art; Macaque had three baby shadow monkeys!

Though I think "Thunder" is the name the artist (@doshi-sukiru) chose, it def fits the theme of the shadow babies being named after rough-and-tumble things.

Rumble, Savage, and Thunder do all sound like attack/fighting names after all. XD

I feel that Thunder's Mandarin name would be Pīlì (霹雳 - "thunderclap/shocking"). Similar to how I have Rumble and Savage's legal names be Zàoyīn & Bàoliè ("rumble/noise" and "savage/fierce")

So the triplets names would be; Zaoyin, Baolie, and Pili!

Weirdly it themes well!

This def makes AUs with the babies around a little more chaotic. XD

I feel that in the Penumbra Au; Thunder/Pili takes the longest to find. They were a bonus shadow clone Macaque left behind to mind his stuff, and Wukong hadn't realised she was there until she "collapsed" like her siblings and became a screaming baby stone monkey. A real shock she was!

Wukong, exhausted holding three babies: "I bought none, and I got three. Should have known that preserving my mate's shadows with my own life energy would lead to this..."

The King and his children

I explained the au in the ask box of @quitealotofsodapop but the gist is Wukong has the shadow trio and is running his kingdom when BDK is released and his worried mom energy is thick enough to swing off of.

Ok so while the outfits are not the most accurate I did do research into seeing what children did wear in ancient China.

Thunder is a mama’s boy and is often hanging off Wukong’s back while Rumble and Savage attract mischief. It’s all childish and a welcomed far cry from Wukong’s own childhood which he is very thankful for. They all look like Macaque the only thing of Wukong that won out over Macaque’s genetics is the eyelashes.

On a funnier note, macaque gets defeated by his own kids in order to see reason.

Monkey fam 💜

With the twins Savage and Rumble, and the newest baby MK. Shadowpeach is implied, imagining that this is through the eyes of Monkey King.

I had a lot of fun with this, especially looking at all the reference photos. I have two color alternates with Macaque with white hair and a yellow/red outfit.

Child Support

I got inspired by @linkinaboxx's ideas for @quitealotofsodapop's Shadow Triplets, including the one where the triplets refer to Macaque as a deadbeat.

Something was up on Flower Fruit Mountain.

For the past few weeks, Wukong had opened the door to the cabin to find an arrangement of... stuff on his doorstep.

At first, it had started off as gold and jewels, with a monetary worth enough for the triplets to go to college in America several times over if they wanted to. Wukong had ended up exchanging it all for money, confused but shrugging it off. Weirder things had popped up, and even if he was already rich, it was nice to have more money just in case.

Then, toys and treats joined the gold, narrowing down to match each child's taste.

This sent terror down Wukong's spine. It confirmed that something or someone was actively stalking his children.

Thunder had complained about breaking a calligraphy pen and the next morning, there was a new pen. Savage had been introduced to the 1941 Princess Iron Fan animation and, by next morning, the animation stills that had been reported stolen had popped up on his porch. Rumble wanted croissants but the nice bakery he bought them at, which got butter directly from France, was having delays, and the next morning there was a fresh box from a French bakery, still warm from the oven.

Wukong had checked with the others, even the Demon Bull Family, to make sure he wasn't freaking out over nothing. He had double, even triple checked to make sure there was no curses ir or anything before letting the children have them. There was no ill-intentioned magic, but the fact that his family wasn't involved?

He could still feel the Lady Bone Demon's strings. The Mayor had disappeared.

That meant one thing.

Wukong went through the evening routine as usual. He kissed each of his sweet little stormclouds after they fell asleep. He turned off the lights, making sure the nightlight was on to keep any nightmares away. He created a clone and ordered it to sleep in his bed.

With that done, Wukong settled next to the door and kept his breathing soft and even.

And then he waited.

What felt like an eternity passed. Wukong waited and waited and waited. Once, he startled, but realized quickly that one of the kids had just gotten up to go to the bathroom.

He kept waiting.

When 2 AM blinked from the stove, Wukong let out a soft groan. Exhaustion tugged at him. His butt felt numb from the floor.

He was tempted to get up and go to bed. Xiaojiao had offered to set up cameras-

A soft noise rustled outside.

Unlike other nature noises, however, this contained the soft ssh ssh of magic.

This was it.

Wukong sprang to his feet and let out a war cry as he threw open the door-

"Macaque?"

His ex-mate knelt on his porch, frozen. He looked kinda like Thunder when he got startled by something. Wukong looked down and stared.

He was setting down a box of Savage's favorite cookies next to the usual gold. Next to it was a small jewelry box, open to reveal a citrine bracelet, another box of sweets, and a large box of chalk.

In his arms was a large bundle of yellow flowers, sunflowers and peonies alongside roses, all tied with a turquoise ribbon bearing a tag with "WUKONG" written in his ex's familiar swooping handwriting. A few petals had fluttered off but stuck, making his dark fur look like sunlight shining through trees.

"...hi?"

Wukong blinked and then rubbed his eyes. He was half-convinced he was dreaming. When he looked up again, Macaque had stood up, half hiding his face behind the flowers.

"What are you doing?" Wukong finally settled on asking. He hadn't really seen the shadow monkey since the bone demon's defeat and, he hated to admit it, but it hurt. He had at least hoped Macaque would want to see the kids.

Macaque stood there, not looking at him. Wukong was ready to ask again when there was a quiet rumble, one he had to strain to hear.

"...child support."

In the Big Family AU, what weapon/fighting style do each of the siblings use?

I'm glad you asked! This was so fun to make!!

Haoyu: A staff. His fighting style is a lot like Wukongs, but can be a tad more aggressive to match Macaque

MK: A staff (Both Haoyu and MK fight just like Wukong. They both even use Wukong's staff, those sometimes they do rock paper scissors to decide who gets to use it per battle or training. Otherwise, Bao makes them a shadow staff similar to Macaque's for the other to use)

Xiaohua: two, one handed swords/ Jian (he makes these out of shadows. Can only make himself weapons, and only Jian's with a lot of practice)

Sying: Hand held fans. They are similar to Princess Iron Fan's large fan in what they can do. A gift from Princess Iron fan herself)

Savage: A double handed sword (A gift from his favorite Unkey, Azure Lion)

Rumble: Long distance fighter, he uses a bow and arrows. These arrows have different properties to them depending on what rumble wants.

Xue: A spear. She took a lot of her own training from her Unkey Peng.

Bao: A bit young to have an official style. Adaptable to all weapon types. Biggest weapon at this time is his Shadow, who is like a body guard to them
